What are Apostolic Teams?
What do
we mean by apostolic teams?
Simply
put, an apostolic team is when the Lord calls out His servants as he
did in
Acts 13 to go and make disciples where there are no or very few
disciples. They
are called apostolic because they are called on a mission to function
as
pioneers, not building on anyone’s foundation, but going where there is
no
Church.
We are
not talking about a hierarchal position, or a position chosen by an
institution. We are not talking about an administrative governmental
position
over groups of churches, ministries or ministers. We are not talking
about someone who is an itinerate
teacher who is ministering to already established churches in an
international or
national context.
In
the
context of missions, and what this network is devoted to, an apostolic
team refers to those doing missions work as a team
among those who have never heard the gospel, and there is no church in
their
culture. Others may have a more expanded view of the role or function
of an apostle or apostolic
team, but we do not.
